The UK’s leading taxidermy resource.
“Recording Britain’s Taxidermy Heritage”

The BRITISH HISTORICAL TAXIDERMY SOCIETY was founded in 2004 by Martin Dunne (Chairman) as a non profit society to promote the appreciation of all aspects of taxidermy & Natural History.

Representing the largest group of enthusiasts in the UK, our members include many serious collectors, authors, museum curators, taxidermists and leading authorities on the subject. The collective expertise of our members is unsurpassed. As such the society has grown to be recognised as a leading resource, we consistently assist many individuals, museums and organisations with research and provide an accurate source of information.

The society operates one of the largest databases of Historical taxidermy in the UK with currently over 17,000 images. We also have an archive, library and the beginnings of a taxidermy collection, all of which support our research into the subject.
We are proud that our website is recognised as the only credible and accurate internet resource of its kind.

The society publishes books, postcards and even Christmas cards promoting taxidermy on a regular basis, the only organisation of its kind in the UK to do so.

The society meets on a bi-annual basis at various locations throughout the UK, namely museum’s and associated venues. These meetings provide an excellent forum for our members whom also enjoy the social evenings that follow.

We are proud to have two of the most respected names in taxidermy Dr Pat Morris and Christopher Frost as our patrons.
